Scripture/Text: Titus 2:11-14; Let's admit it. We all think that the best way to get people to behave is to frighten them. Or, if we are more optimistic about the goodness of people, we might offer rewards. But that is not what scripture teaches is God's central way of inviting followers of Jesus to obedient living. Rather it is "the grace of God that brings salvation" (Titus 2:11) that teaches us to live godly lives. In short, it is the Gospel perceived and believed that keeps us true. This Sunday I will make three connections from this short passage between the Gospel and obedient living.
